Thurston Moore, Merzbow, and animal rights

Thurston Moore has been seen, as posted by himself on his social media, wearing a Merzbow "Animal liberation - until every cage is empty" shirt. The shirt shows the album cover of Merzbow's record of that same title (2022):

The other gentleman is, of course, Jarvis Cocker, who at least in the 90s was known to be vegetarian.

My personal guess - and I'm not a Thurston Moore expert - would have been that he is wearing the shirt (only) because he's a big fan and (maybe close) friend of the band (or rather solo project) Merzbow, whose music by the way is some kind of art noise. I'm not speculating that he is a fan and friend of Merzbow, he is. He even named his dog Merzbow.

The alternative explanation would be that not just the above is the case but also that Thurston Moore has become an animal rights vegan ... probably not.

But ...

... a 2019 interview with Thurston Moore includes the following:
"[...]
[Interviewer:] What’s the best decision you’ve made of late?
[Thurston Moore:] Becoming a vegetarian.

So, especially those in the UK might be able to grab one of these shirts from the label that put this record out, Cold Spring. Those outside of the Brexit zone ... might have to go without the shirt ... or not: I've seen it sold by Drone Records, in Germany, for 20 Euros. The page states: "T-shirt (in the old CRASS Punk style) with the "Animal Liberation" slogan ("Until Every Cage is Empty"), white on black print, designed by ABBY HELASDOTTIR (GYDJA)."

(On the Drone Records website, I also found this noise album, from Hamburg, Germany, from 2005: "tbc: no animal conviction"
TBC (2) - No Animal Conviction album cover
")

Cold Spring's bandcamp page, in the video to the first song, "No cages part 1", states:
"On this new studio album from Merzbow, Masami Akita [秋田 昌美 ][aka Merzbow, メルツバウ)], a life-long campaigner for animal rights, delivers a brutal assault on those that cage and murder animals. Proceeds from this release will benefit animal rights charities."

Merzbow's own website states:
"

Merzbow

Vegan Straight Edge Noise Project
by Masami Akita

" ... and: "人間は動物たちを自分勝手な理由で殺しています。" [Humans kill animals for selfish reasons.]

His bandcamp (which does not list the "Animal Liberation ..." album) says "Merzbow, Tokyo, Japan".

From Discogs: "Highly prolific, Merzbow has released hundreds of recordings since 1979."
